James has a decade and a half of investment experience in technology private equity. This includes five years as a general partner at Advent (2001 – 06) and five years at Warburg Pincus (1996 – 2001) where he became a partner and managing director. James joined WHEB as its Managing Partner in 2007.

Prior to becoming a private equity investor, James accrued many years of technology industry experience as a senior executive of Misys Plc where he was responsible for M&A and made several acquisitions in the US.

James graduated with an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1990 after having spent much of the 1980s as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch and Schroders. James also has an MA (hons.) degree from Cambridge University.

James is an active member of the BVCA’s Energy, Environment and Technology Committee.
